Cooperative Diagnostics Management
Brent C. Satterfield, Ph.D., President and Founder Prior to founding Cooperative Diagnostics, Dr. Satterfield helped to cofound Arcxis Biotechnologies with several of his inventions, including microfluidic sample preparation, diagnostic tests, and probe technologies. One of his more notable inventions was the Tentacle Probe, a new class of DNA diagnostic probe that is up to 200 times faster than other probes, up to 10,000 times more specific in high concentrations of contaminant, and up to 13 times more more robust in extreme temperature conditions. His diagnostic design abilities have been utilized by a number of large organizations including the directors and managers of Sandia National Laboratories, United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Disease, Department of Homeland Security, National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center, California Department of Health Services and Kaiser Permanente. Dr. Satterfield graduated summa cum laude with honors from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. He received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University while dual-enrolled at UC Berkeley on a fellowship from the Department of Homeland Security.
J. Rolando Amado, M.B.A., Vice-President of Global Sales & Marketing Mr. Amado developed marketing strategies for biotech products designed to penetrate the markets of developing countries quickly and efficiently as the Sales and Marketing Director for Novartis in Central America and the Caribbean. He also has a passion in global health, having served as the Area Welfare Manager for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he directed the activities of welfare operations in the areas of health, economic development, humanitarian aid, and emergency response in conjunction with the ministries of health of five different countries. He is a volunteer micro-business mentor in his community. Mr. Amado is trilingual, speaking English, Spanish and German fluently. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Chile with an emphasis on strategic planning. He received his B.A. in Economics from Brigham Young University.
Douglas G. Pennock, M.P.A., Vice-President of Finance & Operations Mr. Pennock has over ten years experience as CFO and senior management of several companies, both public and private. He has had extensive experience with start-up to mid-sized companies in Virginia, South Carolina, New York and Central America, managing operating budgets from $500,000 to $10 million. As a founding member of an international consulting group, Mr. Pennock also has significant experience in analyzing financial and operational systems, developing marketing strategies, and driving overall business expansion activities.Mr. Pennock is currently a member of the Board of Directors of corporations located both in the United States and Central America. He received a B.S. in Business Administration from Weber State University and a Masters of Public Administration from Brigham Young University.
Luis Amado, Director of Central & South America Luis has a B.A. degree in Business Administration and possesses more than 30 years of management experience. He deeply knows and understands the culture, government systems, and local laws of Central America and has worked in managerial positions, purchasing, and in real estate in all six countries of that region. His strengths are in the fields of public relations, training, teaching, coaching, communicating and negotiating. Having lived for several years in the United States he is fully bilingual in English and in Spanish. Luis has been a key person in establishing Cooperative Diagnostics' manufacturing facility in Guatemala and has been the head of that organization since May 2009.
Mayuranki Modi Almaula, Ph.D., Director of South Asia Mayuranki has worked in the Recombinant Protein Division of DNAX Research Institute (now Merck) and then subsequently concentrated on technical liaison to the Business Development efforts of several companies like In Silico Sciences, Simbiosys-Biowares (now acquired by the Lonza Group) and Gen-Probe, Inc. She has extensive experience in initiating forays and establishing alliances with a focus on South Asia. She has served the pre clinical development projects for most of the past two decades and in the most recent past there has been a specific inclination towards Molecular Diagnostics that concentrate on Infectious Diseases and Oncology. She has completed her Masters and PhD from the Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda and Stanford University, CA.
