Sponsored Research

Research institutions interested in studying specific diseases should submit proposals for research to Cooperative Diagnostics for consideration.  The most promising applicants will receive donated testing materials for their research.  Alternatively, samples may be sent to Cooperative Diagnostics for rapid analysis.

Conditions of Proposals:  Proposals should be hypothesis driven and have numbered experiments in logical order that prove or disprove the hypothesis.  Some literature support of the hypothesis should be provided.  Hypotheses should be related to identification, diagnosis or treatment of diseases.  Proposals should indicate how many Cooperative Diagnostics tests are required and show timelines for experiments and publications.  Proposals should not exceed 3 pages in length.  All research should end in published material.  Fast paced research that has immediate or direct results in the medical field will receive preference.

Current Projects

Low Cost HIV Testing in Liberia Cooperative Diagnostics is donating HIV tests to the California Department of Public Health in a study they are performing in Liberia for HIV testing in infants. Early diagnosis of HIV in children followed by prompt treatment, can lead to longer and healthier lives. Liberia currently does not have HIV testing available for children born with HIV. The California Department of Public Health hopes to change that through their efforts.

Dengue Fever in Costa Rica Cooperative Diagnostics is donating Dengue tests to the University of Costa Rica in an effort to help determine the cause of a recent breakout of hemorrhagic fevers in Costa Rica.
